So I got my first tattoo a few months ago, and I'm going in for the touch up soon (I should mention here that the touch-up is going to be free). I know that it's customary to tip when you get the tattoo, and I did. Is it customary to tip after you get a free touch-up?

Sure. It shows appreciation and it's something that makes both parties feel good about what they have done. The appreciation goes both directions. People remember these things and it shows your charactor.

Yes, I think you should tip both when you get the tattoo and when you get the touch up. Tip large when you get the tattoo and they'll remember that next time you want to get something :)

I would say that we get tipped about half of the time for touch ups. They are more common for us to do with the cosmetic tattooing than body art, however.

It is generally modest but always appreciated by the artists that don't own the studio. Sometimes goodies go over well! COOKIES!!!!

absolutely. the touch up is free to you, but in all actuality, it comes out of the tattoo artist's pocket. they are doing just as much work as they did the first time around; by tipping you are showing appreciation for fixing or making it better.

I would tip them for the touch up as well. it's just good business practice.

I do. Work is work. If you did work, even if it's something you are doing for free, wouldn't it be nice to get a tip?

I personally not tipping my tattoo artiste cause he did a very bad job. Tattoo faded in 2 weeks completely i can see no black lines nor the rest of red nor green color that he used after tattoo stripped everything stripped with it,poor ink and he went too deep on spme parts and not feep enough on other partsthats what other tattoo artistes told me when i showed them
