Hi Anita
Excema often presents with asthma..asit is an allergy and can be worsened by stress..
Many soaps and detergents can cause excema and dermatitis, so I would stop using the detergent and wash my hands only in water while the condition is improving, taking care to dry them thoroughly

Since you have excema it was a good idea to go to your doctor. I agree with your doctor in that some chemicals in the detergant react to some people's skin. This is very common and you should not worry. My advice would be to change all of the soaps that you are using to ones that don't have a smell because that could also cause a problem.

If it is caused by a detergent it is a contact dermatitis, whichthe dr should have prescribed you a corticosteoid cream. Although you can by hydrocortisone over the conter and it should work to.
My daughter has true eczema, patchy extremely dry itchy areas all over he body, that can be painful sometimes. I wash her with cetaphil body wash which contains no soap (soap is drying) and than I cover he body with cetaphil lotion 2-4 times per day. You could probably get away with 2 times. I would say get some cheap gloves slather your hands in cetaphil, put the gloves on and go to sleep. It should clear up your problem and leave you with fabulously soft hands.

Stop using the detergent and use a cortisone cream on your hands for about 4 days. Should stop the redness and itching. Use a moisturizing soap to wash your hands such as Dove and use Dove liquid to wash the dishes.

I have ezema on my hands and it just comes and goes as it pleases. It is just something that you will have to learn to deal with. They do have have prescription and over the counter lotions and creams that will help with the dry, peeling skin. I found that the thick creme lotions that come in jars instead of bottles work best. I used Nivea in a blue jar and Olay has one in a purple jar.

First of all, eczema is an incurable skin condition. It is not caused by things like detergent, although detergents and other perfumed soaps can promote an outbreak. Even though it can go away, it almost always comes back. (You will always have the condition that causes it.)

I had the same problem for years when I was in the medical profession. It could be due to "over washing your hands". That was my problem & latex gloves. Try using alcohol sanitizer instead.

It probably wouldn't without some type of treatment or creme. My cousin had the same exact thing and she used some creme and it went away.

with lotion and lots of water yes...and make sure that you rewash anything that has been washed with that detergent. They make lots of detergents for people with allergies, and fabric softeners also. (which tend to bother me and my children more than the detergent)
