Well, yoga is considered a type of exercise, and any exercise relieves stress. But if you're stressed out, and you do yoga when your stressed, you'll feel better for a small amount of time, but you'll be stressed again later. The best way is to exercise on a regular basis (yoga or something), and this will help your mind adjust a lot easier in stressful situations. Situations that would have stressed you out before won't stress you out as much and sometimes not at all.

any form of physical exertion would be great when your stressed out. although, technically yoga isn't supposed to be about the exercise so much as it's a means to aid in medition by focusing on the physical body.
