A group in my community is going to give a scholarship to someone in the area, but I haven't lived here all of my life. I've only been here for four years as opposed to a lot of people who have been here their whole lives, but I really want the scholarship. To apply, you have to writ an essay. Is it possible for me to win if I write a really great essay? And can someone help me to do so? I'd like to look over some good examples of such technical writing, but don't know where to start... a little help, please?
Thanks in advance. =)

Thanks so much for the response. As for the topic, we're just supposed to describe ourselves.

Yes, it is possible for you to win if you write a good enough essay. The issue of whether you actually can or not really depends upon the nature of the community in which you are living. If it is a larger community that is not very closely knit, and the scholarship is being decided on by a broad cross section of the community you will stand a good chance if you write a good essay. However, if it is a small community, where the same people have lived their whole lives there, and you just moved in four years ago, it will be harder, because the tendency of people to vote for those that they know well.

Yes, it is possible for you to win if you write a good essay. You certainly are not going to win without one, right?

You'll need to tell us what the topic of the essay is before people can advise you where to look for examples.

You have as much chance at the scholarship as any of the others, especially if the topic is yourself and your own life/biography.

Be honest, show ambition, and a little tug at the readers' heartstrings won't hurt. (Do you have a tragedy or struggle that you overcame?)

Asking strangers to write your bio for you is a sure ticket to losing out on this opportunity.
