First look at the miles its way to high! even if they are japanese cars. Acura and lexus are both very dependable!
But when comapring the two cars you have to ask yourself what you want?
Acura RL- very comfortable easy going car that has room for 4-5 people plus luggage!
Lexus SC400- Coupe two door that has space for two and a dog or kids, and if ure carrying two adults in the back just make sure you scoot up and its a short ride cause everyone will be uncomfortable! But its a good looking car alot of of people modify it and its an excellent cruiser oh and there isnt much trunk space.

so if u need space and you will carry people go for the RL otherwise u can live with a small trunk and you only have a gf to drive around then go for the SC400.

But my honest opinion find another car with less than a 100-150k miles atleast!
In the end if you want a car with no hassle of future probs it has to have less than 80k miles atleast .. otherwise by 200k miles you will be spending money on maintenance and future probs will arise.

Lexus. Because of the fact that Lexus, just by the name is identified as a luxury car while Acura is not.

200,000 MILES!!!!
Neither, they are no longer luxury cars. They are money pits.
Go to www.cars.com and do a search in your area.
Put luxury cars in Vehicle Type.
Put $5000 as a max in price range.
Cap the Mileage Range at 100000.
Type in your zip code, and you will find a bunch of luxury cars in your area and budget with reasonable mileage.

Examples:
BMW 525 90k $4900
Cadillac SLS 50K $4950
Lexus 400 99k $4900
Volvo 960 75K $4800

Some even have Car Fax Reports that you can see online.

I like lexus, but both cars are usually owned by meticulous drivers and take care of them well. I think Lexus has better safety features though.

For that kind of money go a little downmarket for a newer lower mileage car. Toyota & Honda both have enviable reputations for build quality & reliability but they dont last forever. Check out "Consumer Reports" for guidance or ask your friends about their cars.Remember, a luxury car will always have luxury car running costs, and as it wears out those costs come home to roost!.
