Our bodies try to maintain the same weight a lot of the time. It'll stay at the same weight for a while, and it will loose or gain to that level. If you've ever had a day where you binged and haven't gained weight, it's the same principle. It often takes a while for our bodies to raise or drop the bar at which it maintains it's weight. What I'm saying is keep it up. It will take a bit. Also, once you reach your desired weight, you will need to be careful and still watch yourself as you will just go right back up again to where you were before if you're not careful.

ur answering your own question. The body is a mysterious thing and there is no sure fire answer that will work for everyone so here goes. The reason you may be losing weight so slowly is because you are not eating enought throughout the day satisfy your body. It sounds like you are eating so little that your body is trying to hold onto the fat that you have because it thinks that it is starving and will sacrafice precious muscle tissue as opposed to fat. You say you need to lose only 20 pounds well let me tell you that is alot of weight to lose. there are mainly three things that make a lfestyle change possible Diet, exercise, and supplementation. In that order! Diet is about 80 percent of the the equation. You must also exercise, it is a must. If you continue down the road you are going the weight you will lose will probably be mostly muscle and you will be skinny fat. meaning you will have lost the 20 pounds but you will still have the same body fat percentage as when you started. Generaly speaking you should consume 11-14 calories per pound a day top maintain your current weight. it varys depending on your activity level. so for a 200 pound man that is moderately active he should consume 2400 calories a day to maintain his weight. if he want to lose weight he should generaly cut 500 calories off of this total, bringing him to 1900 calories. he has 2 ways of doing this he can either eat 500 less calories or he can consume th same number and burn the 500 through exercise or a combination of both. Personally the combination work best for me. All in all you shouldnt let the scale tell you what to do, the mirror should be ur best friend and before and after pictures help out alot too. sorry for the spelling im in a hurry at work

First, losing five pounds in four weeks is very good! Way to go - that sounds like a good, healthy level of weight loss.
However, if it hasn't already, your weight loss will probably slow and stop completely soon.
To lose weight, you have to burn more calories than you consume. You've cut the amount of calories you're consuming, but your metabolism is slowing down just as much to match what you're eating.
The body adjusts very quickly. If it is not getting enough calories, it slows down to help preserve itself.
Eating less and not exercising is contradictory to your goal.
If anything, you need to eat more. Eating more calories will help get your metabolism up again.
Also, try exercising. Especially cardio, even if it's just walking. Exercising is another way to get your metabolism up.
Also, you don't need to be vegetarian/vegan to lose weight. I'm guessing most of your diet is carbs right now. Cutting carbs and fat is a good way to promote weight loss. If you eat less carbs, your body will try to use stored body fat for energy. This is another area where doing cardio will help you.
And there's nothing wrong with eating meat. It can be healthy just like anything else can be.

Well.. you SHOULD exercise, because that will totally help will a quicker weight-loss.. BUT if you choose not to exercise for some reason (it better be good), I think you should add in vegetables and lean meats into your diet. It's hard for the first couple of days and then after that you just get used to it. Instead of Special K you should make yourself some whole grain toast and eggs with cheese or something, along with salsa, if you like that kinda stuff.. like me..
But, if you intensify your exercise now the weight will come off so much faster, but its your choice.. exercise and it come off faster or don't exercise and it come off slower, especialllllly if you're eating grody stuff.

You have to eat to lose weight, when you don't eat much your body goes into starvation mode and starts putting on more fat. Also 5 pounds in only 4 weeks is kinda a lot of weight to lose. Dietitians say 1 pound a week is what is healthy

The first question is how much do you weigh now and how tall are you?
That will determine how many calories a day you should be eating to lose weight, maintain weight and gain weight.
Then after that you start with a base line of calories and distribute them throughout the day. Eating several times a day is key. Also what you eat is important.

you need to eat or your body will think its starving itself and take the fat out of the food or something and keep the calories around. I would just eat a little more food w/ some variety and then lift weights or do some simple excersises. 5 pounds in 4 weeks is not bad especially if you are not severly overweight. good luck.

five pounds is not bad. try to pace your weight loss, losing it too fast can actualy complicate your health. When I lost 20 pounds over 3 months, I got various new allergies to food.
But if you really want to lose fat fast, compliment your diet with exercise, lower salt intake and eat high fiber foods, that will help with faster movement of water and food through your body

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!
