I have multiple business degrees. It seems that if you could convince a talented fighter to sign with you and if he had success that you could build a business. Of course that is most likely the difficult part.

Ray I know that is the building block but there has to be many issues.

Guvna I never said that was all you need but I'm sure it is the most critical component.

Google fight promoter university. I read a little about it on sherdog.net. It is my understanding that it's a comprehensive course going over everything (signing talent, securing a venue, ticket sales, sponsorships, and everything in between). I think it would be worth the time and cost. If you aren't interested in that perhaps you could volunteer to help another promoter with his show. He would probably like the free labor and you would get an inside view of the logistics required to run a successful show. I have no experience in this arena, but I think it is a very tough business. I live in Dallas and over the last 5 years I've seen many promoters come and go. For example, a local promotion called "Ultimate Texas Showdown" threw several very successful shows, signing fighters like Ricco Rodriguez. But then, they had a show which I was at that had an absolutely dismal turnout for whatever reason. They have not thrown a show since. In March a promoter is promoting an event called "Art of War" which is headlined by Pedro Rizzo & Justin Eilers. I purchased my tickets within minutes of them going on sale, I checked back several days later and the seats right next to mine had not sold yet, so I am expecting a terrible turnout and for this promoter to go under after their first attempt. Best of luck to you if you decide to pursue it, but do your homework before you dive in.
