Buchanan was a great great fighter, he beat Jim Watt and Watt wouldnt fight him again, but i do think Duran hit him low, to what power it had we'll never know, only buchanan knows the answer, PS i met him and he's a gentleman

The blogbaba doesn't think Duran hit Buchanan low he knows Duran hit Buchanan low, and so does anyone else who saw the fight. Nothing short of a hand of stone to the stones could have reduced a class act like Buchanan to the writhing groin clutching pile we saw flopping around the ring. I was a young blogbaba back then, and while both of Buchanan's gloved hands were clutching spasmoticaly at his crushed groin, Duran winged a right hand to finish him off.

duran clearly hit him low. on interview ref said low blow couldn't knock a fighter out. that sounds kind of idiotic. buchanan was getting killed anyway, so at first I thought he was just a great actor and trying for a disqualification. looking at it past few times it's been on espn classic, don't think he was faking his pain. either he bought his cup at walmart or has the weakest groin around, there have certainly been equally hard low blows in many matches and i've never seen anyone go down like that, let alone a world champion. he was a totally beaten fighter, so guess duran deserved the win anyway

Yes and its a pity he never fought a rematch. I still would have put money on Roberto Duran. Buchanan was very good and a champion.

Donal Dorie ~
Duran, one of my favorite fighters of all time hit Ken low as sure as the Pope is Catholic. Duran can say whatever he wants about the blow that finally sent Buchanan to the canvas for good during their fight. The great thing that we have is video and lots and lots of slow-motion shots of a young ferocious Duran knocking Kens family stones to his throat.

Thanks for the question Donal Dorie
