Don't give your cats cows milk. It might not give them worms, but the lactose (milk sugar) is not good for them. If you really wanna give them milk, they make a special milk for cats that is 98% lactose free.

There is no way they can get worms or anything else from pasteurized milk. "Raw" milk would be another story.
The problem with milk is that some cats cannot tolerate the lactose in it (people can be lactose intolerant too) and it may give a cat a stomach upset and/or diarrhea. This can be particularly dangerous for kittens as diarrhea for them can be uncontrollable and fatal.
If they like it and it agrees with them it's OK. Start with very small amounts if you do it.
We are the only animal species on earth that drinks milk after weaning from our mothers. It is not something any weaned cat needs and may have little or no nutritional value for them.

It wont give them worms, and should be fine as long as its not in large quantities. Its true cats are lactose intolerant but then again so are people, both species only have lactase during weaning. There is a big case that people should not drink cows milk either(http://www.notmilk.com/kradjian.html). To be honest i think its all blown out of proportion, if u like it drink it like alcohol! same for the cat a lil-bit of what one likes wont do any harm.

I have heard before that cat's can get worms from cow's milk. I did research online and did not find anything on it. But one thing that is true is that cats should not be fed dairy products. They do not have the stomach enzyme to digest lactose - and this makes them lactose intolerant. Ingesting milk can give them stomach cramps, diarhhea or make them throw up. So, it's best to give them a different kind of treat if you want to treat them.

If you really want to give your cat a treat every now and then you can give her a bit of KMR found in any pet store. It stands for kitten milk replacement. Not often, but every once in awhile. It is harmless and made especially for their sensitive stomachs. By the way...most of our farm cats live anywhere between 15 to 22 years of age and most all of them have had a bit of cows milk....(a car seems to be their worst enemy)...but it really is not good for them on a long term basis. Here is a website with all you need to know about KMR -vs- cow's milk. Good luck!!

ABSOLUTLY DO NOT GIVE THEM COWS MILK! cats do NOT have the enzyme in their system to digest lactose. your daughter is right, it can give them worms, cause diahrea which leads to dehydration, it causes cramps, and has absolutly NO nutritional value to them. you cant add water to make it safer either...its still has the lactose in it. after your cat is oh say 5 months old there is no reason to even give them cats milk. they loose the enzyme that digests galactose ( which is in cat milk). from the sounds of it you probably have her on a bad diet. switch her to some premium holistic brand...or her life will be cut short. eagle pack, wellness, and natural choice are the only brands i reccomend.

I give my 3 cats 1/2 a bowl every now and then and they do just fine with it...Make sure it doesn't sit out too long, that's nasty. They love it, and they deserve it, so why not? They will not get worms from it.

The people who say no are correct. Cats can't digest milk. I will sometimes give them a pad of butter because it's an effective hairball remedy, but otherwise no dairy. Sorry kitty.

Not really. Cat's stomachs stop digesting milk when they mature.
I don't think whole milk will be quite so bad. Don't give it to the a whole lot.
It'll give them the poos.

I give my cat snowball milk all the time and it has never hurt her. And shes about 10 yrs. old. I've been giving it to her since she was 3 and She has never had any problems. Your cat may be different so ask your local vet to check her out. Goodluck.
