Thanks DJ B i learnt something new just now..acc to Wikipedia:
Reactive Attachment Disorder (sometimes called "RAD") (DSM-IV 313.89) is a psychophysiologic condition (1) with markedly disturbed and developmentally inappropriate social relatedness in most contexts that begins before age five years and is associated with grossly pathological care. This pathological caregiving behaviour may consist of any form of neglect, abuse, mistreatment or abandonment.

I have been mistreated as a child and I can tell you that it leaves scares inside you.In some way it enstranges you from other people, I would call normal. It often induces a lack of self-confidence and may make you hard to trust others in life.
At first sight, these scares may not show, but still they are there ready to come to the surface each time you feel distabilized in your life.
Even your loved ones may not understand your reactions at times.
It has taken me 57 years to meet someone who fully understands me, and it happens he too had a rotten chilhood.
On the other hand it may you look strong in other people's eyes for you endure what seem unbearable experiences in their opinion. This sounds like masochism to them and may leadyou to suicidal behaviour.
Strong on the surface, very fragile inside.

When children do not receive a lot of care or attention; it causes problems for them emotionally, socially. If they don't get the attention and care from the parents, they go out and GET attention which is unhealthy; like illegal things or something like that. Yes, the insecurity is from the social aspect of it. If they feel they aren't "accepted" at home, they aren't going to feel accepted outside home or school, work etc. Every child DESERVES care and attention. They wind up being hellions and everything else later in life. I've seen it and I see it now. I have friends who have kids that get ignored and they're grade school age and they're misfits I'm sorry to say.

Funny that you should ask a question along that line. My neice and her husband were going to adopt a child, they were sort of pushed to take this one boy, who had been given up by his dad. So they did, only to find he has severe RAD, a disorder from not having the bonding with his mother from birth. It's a disassociation type disorder. So Yes, I believe that if babies aren't given that closeness, love, attention and bonding, it can lead to disorders that affect them the rest of their lives.
