This isn't a recent problem...We found him in our yard and the vet said he was about a year old..we decided to keep him of course, since someone abandoned him..so he's been neutered since about 1 yr old..this has been going on for a year at least..and I just keep cleaning, cleaning, cleaning..I've had him to the vet for check ups etc. as he has no urinary problems etc...exc. health...about 1 month ago..at that time I didn't think to ask the vet....

My cat is almost 13 & I still have a problem with him doing this. There is nothing wrong with him & he's been fixed since he was about 6 mos. old. The main problem I have with him is if I'm gone on an overnight trip. He gets mad! Otherwise, other animals around, different surroundings (we recently moved & he got worse after that), there could be a number of things. I haven't found anything to do. Maybe if you aren't at home, he needs to have "his own room" so he doesn't ruin any of your things.

The thing with male cat is that if they started spraying before they are neutered it isn't a 100% guarentee that they are going to stop spraying. This almost becomes a habit to them. There isn't really much you can do. Sorry to tell you that. You can always call you vet and see what he/she has to say about this. Never be afraid to call the vet.

If this is a recent problem I would guess that it's a possible urinary tract infection. Very possible for his age. Also, how old was he when you got him neutered? and Has this been going on since he was neutered?

Your best bet is to talk to your veterinarian.

You can't, he feels the need to mark his territory, even though he's been neutered. Like my vet said, he didn't read the manual.

perhaps he is just trying to mark a previous spot that he urinated on. Make sure you scrub out the scent so that it is not there anymore (tough to do I know). maybe that will help?
