The troops need to stay over there cause we cant leave the country in the mess that it is in and if we left it would only help the terrorists in the world, by fighting over there we are keeping the fight away from our homeland

I think it sucks. And those troops are not coming home anytime soon. Google something like "iraq military bases building" and take your pick of articles to read. Sure, eventually there may be a troop draw down... but we are in essence there to occupy. Think about it... why wasn't there an exit strategy? Because this wasn't a typical military operation where you meet the enemy, defeat them, then leave. (the correct use of the military btw)
Some info I found after a quick search: "The supplemental funding bill for the war in Iraq signed by President Bush in early May 2005 provides money for the construction of bases for U.S. forces that are described as "permanent facilities." Several recent press reports have suggested the U.S. is planning up to 14 permanent bases in Iraq— a country that is only twice the size of the state of Idaho." "In May 2005, United States military forces in Iraq occupied 106 bases."

Some troops have good and valid reason to stay overseas, but some do not. Staying in Iraq is not good since it is killing (and or maiming) the US soldiers. Maybe it is time to pull the rug and enjoin the army to go back to the US and protect the country instead of bringing peace(?) to a country where the peace can only be generated if their people really wanted peace.

US troops need to stay overseas / Iraq and fight the war
against Islamofaschism "over there" rather than "over here"
which is what will happen if we allow Islamofaschism to
consolidate their powers in the Mid East...
Britian is making a mistake....

The media never mentions it, But the US has already reduced the number of US troops in the Kurdish areas of Iraq.
Britian is not pulling their troops out, they said they are withdrawing 1,500 soldiers, but they also said they would keep soldiers in Iraq as long as needed past 2008.

we can leave and innocent people will die the govt would probably fall but we wouldnt be losing any more troops. if we leave we can save up money so we can go back in latter on when the new threat emerges and the people are crying for help and the un ignores them.

The last time the Dems demanded cut and run was Vietnam. After we left Pol Pot slaughtered nearly 3 million in the killing fields. All this after the Commie North admitted that he we continued Rolling Thunder much longer, they would have been ready to come to the negotiation table. A real shame.....................

I would like nothing more for my husband to come home but the need is still there in Iraq. I think we should stay until that army is built enough to take care of the insurgents themselves.

I've been for de-escalation for awhile now. That said, they can remain overseas. The leaders should just stop focusing on Iraq.
