We are moving into an apartment on the 10th and I wanted to knoq what kind of furniture and decor we need. We lived in apartments for 2 years in college so we already have a lot of furniture We already have:

desk
entertainment center
TV
Sofa
Kitchen Stuff (pots, pans, cups, plats silverware)
Dining room table w/chairs
Shower curtain, bath mat
Picture frames
DVD player/VCR
Stereo
Night tables
Lamps
Microwave

The apartment comes with a washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, oven and AC/heat
We have about $2,000.00
Can you think of anything else that we need?

Towels, sheets, extension cords, trash cans, book shelves, soap (laundry, dish, and body), cleaning supplies, and food.

It sounds like you have the basics covered for furniture. I would suggest you move it with what you have and keep the money to add things as you find you need them. I moved into my first apartment with a table and bed and filled in as my needs and money increased.

When I was in the military we moved every year and found having less is better. I've survived about 30 moves, and my advice is that cash is the best thing to have when to you move as it provides the opportunity for you to get what you actually figure out you need rather than what your friends and family tell you you need.

You don't know if you really NEED things until you get settled. You can buy thing to have them now, but that doesn't mean you will need them. You may buy an expensive bookshelf now only to find what you really needed was an extra table lamp and you don't have any money left to get it.

Good luck and happy moving--oh and be sure to send out change of address cards to your friends. They might like to know how to find you.

If you want more 'clean and tidy' things to do, then you could wash other floors, dust and polish, clean windows, have a change around with furniture, arrange things differently, sort through your kitchen etc Or something fun, go out and shop till you drop!

i would personally wait until you are in the apartment and set up before buying anything else. Think of your storage needs. Does the bathroom have enough storage for all your stuff? if not buy one of those above the toilet cabinets to hold some of your stuff.
once you get all your stuff in your place then decide what else you will need.
