According to the Bush administration, we're there to win. Good luck trying to figure out what that means, though. They haven't issued any sort of specific goal for a couple years now. As far as I know, we're still looking for the WMD's.

Money is the answer, systematic buying of all of Iraq's infrastructure. "from the pipes, to the pumps, to the trucks"
It's a cooperate take over with tanks and guns. first they bankrupt the country, then they buy everything up in biding wars. of course the biding is the only fair way except the Iraqi's have nothing to bid with. so now all of Iraq is privately owned.
the soldiers are their to protect other "good" Americans freedom of business. see we are there for freedom. freedom of trade. freedom of sale, freedom of profit. freedom of oil flow. isn't freedom great.
no really, who knows why we are still there the bush admin has told us so many different things even Bush supporters get confused on the currant reason. now they say it is to spread democracy, well considering America is a republic form of government shouldn't we install a republic government?
Bush doesn't care about the kids over there, look at what happens to the vets when they get back. All he cares about is the bottom line.
Good luck and God Bless you

Have you ever asked a soldier that question? Well, let me just tell you what the majority of the answers will be: They would rather fight it there than here anyday. And as long as they can keep it over there, they are willing to stay. I think you have forgotten that our military is completly voluntary and that all the men and women that have lost their lives fighting for our country knew that it was a possibility the day that they signed up. Never judge our leaders unless you can do a better job yourself.

being selfish is the mother who would rather have her son/daughter at home when he/she would rather fight to protect others.
And stop acting like bush keeps sending more and more people over there--- people in the Army have to do tours, so yes, people switch out but he is not sending more and more people over there.
We are still in Iraq because Al-Queda still exists.

Because Bush wants to prove he is right with his Iraq war policy and he wants to justify it even though no concrete results have happened since the day USA has invaded it (except for the capture of Saddam)

We initially went in to make Iraq a democracy. (Whether we like it or not, that's what we did.)
Unfortunately, after that, terrorists poured in from other countries. They orchestrated a civil war between the Sunni and Shi'ites.
Now we are staying in because if we left and everything went completely to crap, it would be an embarassment to the GOP.
We need to start publicly admonishing the Iraqi government to get their sh** together. That way, if stuff collapses when we leave, its their fault...not ours.

We are still in Iraq for one reason only, a hopeless vain attempt to bolster the legacy of failure that belongs to Bush.
