Abreva is the best. Ice your lip for 20 minutes, then wash with antbacterial soap, and then apply Abreva. Repeat this every 3-4 hours. If your lip is very swollen try taking 400 mg of ibuprofen in the morning and 200 mg in the afternoon and evening.
Sleep on good side (side without the sore) or on your back. Don't touch the sore and don't use chapstick/carmex or anything like that (it will make the blister/scabbing stage worse). Keep the area dry and clean.
Be careful when brushing your teeth too, trauma to the area (even from hitting it with your tooth brush) can make it swell much more. Don't eat anything acidic because that will also really irritate the sores.
Get lots of sleep! Your body is fighting a virus so you need to drink lots of fluids, stay relaxed (stress makes it worse), and get lots of good sleep!
If you do the ice/abreva thing, keep the area clean and dry, and rest it will be gone before you know it!
Good luck!!

Putting icebag will temporarily reduce the swelling. Buy some ABREVA and use it as directed and the fever blister will go away in a few days.
