Make sure there's plenty of toys for him/her to chew on. I highly recommend Nylabone. They come in different sizes so you can get the right size for your dog. Kongs are also a very popular and durable chew toy. Also make sure there are not shoes laying around for her to chew up, keep them in a closet. As for the furniture try crating him/her when you can't watch him/her. My dog is a lab mix and use to chew on everything she could get her mouth on, but now that she has enough of her own toys she leaves other things alone. Also as they get older they may grow out of that bad habit as well, but not all dogs do. Hope this helps and good luck!

I have a 9 month old Weimaraner. He has chewed 4 pair of slippers already. He also chews my daughter's face wash and hand creams. I think he likes the smell. As for the shoes, when I see them I hold them up to him and tell him, "NO". This hasn't done much good, though. I have gotten him all the chew toys I can think and while he plays and chews on them all day long, he still gets to the shoes. Wish I could be more help.

I just bought this for my mut. If you go to petsmart there's this sour spray that you can spray on furniture or whatever he chews and the taste is so bad they dont want to chew on it anymore.

Good luck.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?K3bo

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

What i do when i catch my dog chewing on my shoe is i take the shoe and say no and spank him with it. Maybe harsh but it works, i have 4 dogs inside and they have learned to chew on what is only theirs (toys, bones etc)

Use a squirt gun whenever the pup chews on something its not supposed to, just make sure they don't see you spray them.

get her lots and lots of toys. and for the furniture buy an indoor "stay away" product that you put directly on the couch, and your shoes. dogs can smell it, we cant.
