what i would do at the party would be like have some music playing in the backround and have maby some really easy or had games to play um or if you have little kids there you could have like a water ballone fight or scuart gun fight and have some candy maby some cake and ice cream and then you could sit down and have like really good jokes or just talk about the past and all the good times that you had with him and then maby you could have like a little dinner after words.

You don't have a whole lot of time, but maybe you can put a slide show or picture album together of your dad's life.
The slide show is pretty self explanatory. It does get everyone involved and is bound to get a lot of laughs and reminiscing.
If a picture album, choose a scrap-type book, pass it around to all the guests to look at and sign (people usually put comments by the pictures - it can be really funny). Put the pics in chronological order, starting with his childhood, through school, w/friends and family growing up, getting married, having his own kids, etc.
This can be an "activity" everyone can get involved in. Not to mention a great keepsake for him to flip through and enjoy forever.

Depends on who you have invited. If mostly family, you could make a history of pictures of your dad. Ask mom for all pictures of him growing up and make a large collage of those. You could make a game of it, and have everyone select a picture and tell a story about your dad relating to that picture. It would be a really good time to records those stories for the future generations on how things were. It's important you know to share.
Give Dad a Big Hug from one stranger who's surpassed the old fart age and am just getting use to wearing the ol'e fify mark.

Hire a band or if you are doing it at a house maybe there is room in the back yard to set up a dance floor and just play some tunes. Get some people to tell stories about his childhood or the early years. Put together a wonderful slid show of his life! Hope this helps and I hope your party is wonderful good health to you and yours!

People don't come to parties to talk only - that's an intervention. Have food, especially the kind that your dad likes, music, maybe champagne, etc. Party is suppose to be about enjoying yourself. Have some party games that gets everyone involved, such as charades or win, lose, or draw.
