I went to start my car and it would turn over and just wouldnt start, then I smelt gas, and went to try and start it again and then herd fluid spill, so my husband looked under the car and saw a hose loose, he said it was tis one that went in to the fuel filter, so he pushed it on as hard as he could and it started right up. So is it fixed? Is there a clamp that should go arround the conection? What do I do? If anyone could help I would apprecate some advice. thank you so much!! (its a Ford Contour, 2000)

Most American cars don't have hose clamps on fuel line hoses that go into the throttle body or the fuel filter. If your husband put the hose back on it should stay on unless it is worn out, in which case you're better off getting a replacement hose. Using a hose clamp may damage the fittings if you're not careful, so for now just leave it be and if it comes off again look into the price of getting a new segment of fuel line.

Ah Yes the Ford Fuel filter one end,. the end that goes to the tank has a safety clip that breaks, the other is a cheap clamp on it. I would forgo the shops and just go get a new filter with all the clips and hoses attached and replace it. Better....Safer.....

Ergo, the problem with Yahoo Answers...
All fuel lines have either clamps or high pressure interlocking fittings on fuel hoses as previously stated and refuted.
Please get your husband to replace this clamp tonight. If the fuel hose comes off end leaks gas on a hot exhaust "boom", you are on fire.

It has plastic clips on both ends. They are availble with a new filter or separate in the HELP section at your local auto parts store.
Was the filter just changed? If not, I would go ahead and change it. If so, perhaps it wasn't installed properly. Have it checked ASAP by a mechanic to prevent a firey mess!!!!

Remember, you're playing with gas here. I would want to take the car to a mechanic and have it checked at the very least. It could come loose again and spray gas on a hot exhaust manifold and catch fire. Be safe, I would hate to see anyone harmed.

better make sure you bring your wieners and marshmellows with a very long long long stick or clamp the hose to be on the safe side.

YES...NEEDS a clamp. Don't drive it that way.
If that pops off again during driving it can be a huge fire hazard.
