I haven't had a problem yet and ive been straightening for years. It is true that your hair can be damaged, but the best thing you can do is use a straightening product in your hair that protects against heat. I use L'oreal Paris Hot Straight...my hairstylist recommended it.

A really good salon flat iron out there is the CHI. It doesn't catch and pull out my hair like others that I've used. It is pricey, but so worth it. You can also use it to make spiral curls!! I've NEVER heard of a flat iron giving you dandruff though. Any processing that you do isn't the best for your hair. Just make sure to give your locks a break.. Wash every other day if you can, use quality hair products, get trims often, and deep condition about once a week.
I recommend:
Redken Smooth Shampoo and Conditioner
Biolage leave in conditioner
Redken Straightening balm
Bed Head After Party

Yes, flat irons do damage your hair, if not used with proper hair products, that is. There are many heat protectant sprays/creams on the market, & it would really help your hair from damaging all that much if you use them. I've been using a straightener every day for the past 3 years, & i've been using sprays & protectants. My hair is as soft & smooth as it always was. I recommend the following products:
Tresemme Heat Teamer Protectant Spray
Loreal Hot & Straight Shine
You add these to your hair (damp) prior to straightening, & they will protect your hair from the heat & reduce the amount of damage the heat gives your hair. After straightening, I also recommend Tresemme anti-frizz secret. Straightening makes my hair frizzy & poofy but by adding this spray (or cream, it comes in both) my hair calms down. Hope this helps!

It won't cause dandruff or hair loss. Any heat that you apply to your hair will eventually damage it if you do it on a regular basis. If you have your hair processed (colored, permed, etc), it is going to damage it even more. A lot depends on your hair type. If you feel you need to use a straight iron, use a protective spray that's made for flat iron use and make sure your hair if completely dry before you begin.

yes to destroy, but i dont know about dandruff and hair loss. but if you really want to straighten your hair, i suggest you get a ceramic hair straightener- they cause less damage, but are kind of on the expensive side.
hope this helps.

Yes, they are very damaging if used often. I used to use one a couple of times a week and quickly noticed that my hair looked more dry, brittle and frizzy. If you only want to straighten your hair occasionally, I think it would be okay to buy one, but if you plan to use it very often, I would get it professionally straightened instead or maybe just try to work with your natural hair texture.

I use a straightening iron and my hair is less damaged than when I blow dry. But sure to use a good heat protective product on your hair first. Thermasilk has a good one that's inexpensive (I just can't remember what it's called). Also, invest in a good, high quality iron instead of just buying whatever is cheapest.

Straighterns are ok if you use a deep conditioning treatment every week on your hair, and use protection spray everytime you straighten your hair. If you do that, you'll be fine!

If you do - get a ceramic one b/c they are less damaging. I woudl be careful if you have naturally dry hair b/c that will only make things worse. Or, you coudl try to learn to like your curls and make them act better!!
