The nerves in your spinal cord are like wires. They are packed close together. When they reach your brain, the "itch" message can get mixed up with the nerve that was near it. This is called "referred" itch.
This is why amputees can have pain in parts that have been amputated.

well if we are talking about strictly ONE itch then it is because wen you itch your itchy spot, the movement of you itching it goes up and down or side to side, wich makes the other part BY the itch itchy too so, i hope it helped! -Blondie

I was wondering that too. My boyfriend says that it's just mental; that I think I am itchy there but really not. Hmmmmm.....
