Succeed/ By that do you mean get good grades? Or choose an area of study that will result in successful ( hopefully happy) employment? If you mean studying, then the best way to make good grades is to develop your own study system. Me. I would take notes in classes, and then when it was test time, the night before the test, in new blank notebooks, I'd copy the info from old to new, and bam! I got it. It was recorded to memory for the next day. Students have to find a way for them to study effectively. Then, you can gauge how much play time you can get away with, or be able to juggle a job and school and still get good grades.
But, I think, it's easy to get good grades, if you take subjects that you like, that you're good at already. Why swim upstream? Go with who you are. Try a bunch of new classes before declaring a major. Go online and see how many jobs are available for people who have THAT degree. How much is the annual income? Think about college as a way to carve out a great niche in the working-business world for yourself. A dry run before the big screen debut and real life kicks you in the keister.
