I'd take her on walks. My dog was abused before I got her, so she wouldn't even come to guys when I got her.

If you have a nice friend that will let you and your dog come over that could help. (Maybe not so much if they have dogs, at least at first)

Avoid over crowded or noisy environments, because they will bother your dog and someone, or your dog, could get hurt.

If its nervous when people go to pet her, squat down beside your dog and pet on her too. This will tell your dog that it's okay and that every thing's going to be okay.

Has your dog been around other dogs when you weren't there?? Maby she was bitten or something and you didnt' know. The best advice would be to take her out and socialize her...like at petsmart or somewhere like that and properly introduce her to other people and animals. If she sees you're accepting of other dogs and people she will be more inclined to do so as well.

You could take her to training classes. Even if she is obedient, they have intermediate/advanced levels that are a lot of fun and a good way to socialize dogs. If there is a local dog park, try going there or maybe walk your dog with one of your friends who also has a dog. What kind of dog is it and how old?
