permanently?
or temporarily?
if temp, you can do this yourself, with a barrel curling iron, make sure the barrel isn't too big but about the girth of a jumbo sharpie.
unless your hair is thick and long, you can eyeball it.
take the curling iron when it is at the right temperature(the right temp is when you can set a piece of tissue to it and it won't burn the paper). take the hair between the tongs in the middle of the hair shaft.. meaning not on the tips of your hair, this causes breakage.
roll the iron upwards towards the ceiling and let go of the tongs every time you complete a rotation(springless curling irons are best to do this with).
make sure all the hair is in the iron. once you can touch the hair and feel that it is too hot to touch, that's when you can let go of your hair. when rolling, keep the iron in a vertical angle not horizontal!
repeat this on the rest of your hair.. also, curl the bottom hair first and work your way to the crown of your head.
salons usually charge between 20-60 dollars. depending on where you go, its a huge range. but i think its better to do it at home.
for a perm, go to a salon. don't try to do it yourself. they'll charge from 40-120 for a perm.

if you want spiral curls permanently you will have to get a perm in a salon. It really depends on the length of your hair and where you go for the price. Call around and get some estimates.

You can also do like the other poster said if you want temporary and use a large, medium, or small barrely curling iron depending on the size of curl you want.

I relaxed my hair and then on wet hair I use a setting lotion then I roll up my hair with the snap on, magnetic rollers with the smooth barrel going diagonally all over my head. I use 45-50 large rollers. Sleep in the rollers, next morning remove rollers and pull the curls or shake my head. My curls are perfect and past shoulder length after they all had dropped. It cost me $7.99 for the relaxer. I already had the setting lotion and the rollers. For the salon spirals depends on your hair length, the shop.

Depends on the salon you go to. I went to one recently and she used these blue rods to wrap my hair around them and I sat under the dryer for over an hour and it cost me $65.
