Whenever I pick up a piece of fruit with a sticker on it I wonder "Is there a machine that does this or is this actually someone's job?" Does anyone know?

This should be an easy question for me. I used to work at a packing house in Florida and the fruit was ran on a conveyer belt before packaging and it would run through a sticker aisle and each time the fruit passes through the aisle a sticker would peel off the paper and onto the fruit. But to do it manually for every piece of fruit would be a menial task. I would have quit.

WELL IT DEPENDS on the fruit i would imagine that apples oranges or any fruit that is of a regular shape and or size would be done by machine and things like bananna's grapes and other oddities would have to be done by hand you will find that most things now a day are mechinized as it is way cheaper and more effecient

Yeah, It's the same job like the Wal-Mart sticker guy.

That's an excellent question. I'm gonna guess it's someone's job, because you'd think there would be a lot of duplications. That might torment me. I should call Minute Maid to find out!

I would guess that a person does it. If it were done by a machine, it would seem that the fruit would be bumped/jostled/stamped too roughly and would cause bruising. Just a guess. :)

They hire the mentally challenged to do this menial job.

This is also true for stuffing pamphlets and for packaging items for shipment.

It's easy work within their realm of capabilities.

I think someone does it. It sounds like a fun one, too.
