My husband and I are renewing out vows next year. The original ceremony was performed by a judge who just rushed right through it and who wouldn't meet with us until the day of the wedding. This time we want someone GOOD but don't know how to start searching. We're not religous so do not know of a priest who can do it and don't care to have a religious ceremony anyway. Any suggestions on how to find someone else who might be able to do it? We're located in Eastern Iowa if that helps. Thanks!

Our first wedding was large, traditional, and awful. We are not renewing our vows in a court house , probably out in a park somewhere, just the two of us, an officiate, and a photographer, like eloping...but not :).

Type into Yahoo your city, state & wedding officiant (no 's' on the end) You will have a few to choose from. Usually on the 2nd page as the bigger bridal sites seem to get top billing.
You will find all kinds of officiants, from non-denominational ministers who perform civil ceremonies (like myself) to Humanists, Pagans & former priests.

If you do go to the bridal sites and see someone there you think might work for you visit THEIR site. Those bridal sites make vendors & officiants pay for your contact info so you may not hear back from your info requests.

Would love to help but I'd venture you're 10-13 hours away!

You don't need an offiate. You're already married, and legally/technically, the vow renewal doesn't mean anything. You can have anyone you want renew the vows.

a Judge can do it. Go to the courthouse.
