6 months old is usually when most dogs reach sexual maturity, some a little later. If you're not planning on breeding her, I highly suggest getting her spayed. This will prevent her from having health issues that only unspayed females get like cancer of the uterus and pyometra (severe uterus infection). If you don't want her spayed or plan on breeding they do have doggie diapers that you can have her wear so she doesn't leave stains in your house. Just make sure you change them often and keep them clean so she doesn't get an infection. Also if you don't want her to get pregnant (especially at that age it's unsafe) keep her away from unaltered males. Hope this helps and good luck!

She is in season or 'heat' as it is usually called. She could become pregnant now. You should keep her well away from male dogs. Even if you eventually want to breed her. She is too young to breed now. The best thing to do really is to take her to a vet after her 'season' and have her spayed. Then you won't have to worry about this ever again and she will prob. live longer too. Breeding should be left to trained and licensed breeders.

Sounds like her heat is right on time. Dont do anything except keep her away from other dogs until her heat is over. Expect to keep an eye and a leash around for the next couple of weeks.

you should not let her get bred. she is too young. alot of vets want to check out small dogs and give them a good bill of health before you let them breed. also her mate should be smaller than her. my very small Yorkie.pom, poodle mix had to have a very expensive emergency c-section due to the male being larger than her. right now her body is not mature enough to have babies. alot of people would disagree I'm sure but any vet would tell you the same thing. call one, they will give you free advise over the phone.

The term is estres not period.
Yes she is rather young, she will be needing you more than usual cause of the cramping. She will whine and carry on cause she just doesn't understand.
Just let her be and after the three week estres period you might consider getting her spayed. Simply because she has started so early she may be predisposed for future female problems. Spaying her may save her life.

Dont worry that is quite normal as the first season can be anything from five months onwards, all you can do is keep her clean there maybe wipe her with baby wipes and wash her there daily. keep her in away from other dogs.........oh! and love her of course.

It not to young. small dogs grow up quicker then larger breed dogs. Just dont let her outside or around any unalterd males untilt his is over, then gt her fixed so she dosnt have any unwanted puppies.

just make sure there is NO CHANCE any male dogs can have access to her (and believe me, they can be crafty when trying to get to a female in heat). don't leave her unattended outdoors even for a few minutes! make sure you get her fixed as soon as possible also so you won't have to deal with this again :)
