You should probably take things slow and just ask her out for coffee. I know it sux when you like someone and then they ask your friend out. But you just have to decide what is more important? And hopefully the other person can move on.

well first of all, you must ask your friend if he likes the girl. if he does...dont bother advancing because theres plenty of fish in the sea but only one best friend like him.
second, if he doesnt then go for it, ease in by just chatting to her, befriend her on a flirty level then just ask her out to the theatre (but remember, tap into her hobbies, so she'll be interested)
and as for this girl who likes you, see if you can find out and if she does, just dont flirt back, try to be friendly but do not give mixed signals, dont be in her face about not having the same feelings. she'll get over it, just focus on you.
but remember, ALWAYS put friends first.
