I have went out on a date with one. It wasn't a bad relationship until she told me she couldn't be with just 1 guy for the rest of her life. So that was fun. Haha! Anyway, all my other friends on there are people I know outside of myspace. It's not a popularity contest.

I guess its ok to be "online" friends. Dont let this become your ONLY source of socializing though, you tend to shut the rest of the world out when you get too involved with online buddies. Always be careful, never give out personal info, no matter how well you know them. Remember, people on the internet can make up just about anything about themselves. Who knows if that 24 year old blonde guy your talking to is in fact a 65 year old weirdo. Be careful.

I found that on myspace, there are a lot of crazy people. I was on there last year before Xmas and all of a sudden my norton antivirus detected a virus coming from some one on this site!! Scared the crap out of me. I deleted my membership right then and there. Just be really careful whom you talk to.

If it's only online, it's not "that" serious. I have all kinds of online 'friends' but there's no way of knowing if we'd still be good friends if we knew each other offline.

Online friends are fine, just be careful what you say and do. You never know when one of those "friends" will decide to be not-so-friendly and anything you've said (in text) can and may be used against you.

i have all different kinds of relationships on my friends list. old friends from elementary school through college, a few "friend of a friend", lots of extended family, friends i talk to every day, ect. i also am friends with many artists, photographers, musicians, and activist groups. and i have a few friends who i've met over myspace as well.

it's completely up to you to decide who you want on your friends list. just make sure you're smart about it, and don't post anything too personal that you wouldn't want strangers to see (details on where you live, work, ect).

Technically, going by you're questions phrasing, no. Unless you know the person I'd suggest you not get too personal. Now, let's say, you always speak to this person & have for some time. Well then sure, why not? Seeing them physically is not a way to test someone's ability to be honest.

P.S. Don't trust pictures though.

A pen pal is fun, but beware of the conversation. Make sure they have good intentions.

I would discourage meeting face to face, just because… you don’t really know the person. Anyone can lie about themselves and many do online. You just don't know who is on the other side of the line.

Yes as long as you take precautions. As for "serious" friends those are only people I know personally so for me it is fine. I wouldn't make someone I only knew online a "serious" friend until I got to know them personally and new we were compatible as friends.
