i've had the worst sore throat in my life for the past three days, it burns to even swallow my saliva and to even drink water, i have the feeling that it's the flu considering that i felt dizzy and had a fever the other night. any suggestions to soothe my throat? i've already tried cough drops and motrin, but neither work

thanks!

Go to your doctor and get a strep throat test. Sounds like you might have it! It's a bacterial infection and needs to be treated with antibiotics ASAP, or something worse might happen...

Sore Throat?? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and take 1 Tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria.

Gargle with warm salt water. You could also try gargling with a throat tea (you can find them at health store or in the natural food section of the grocery store). Also, try soaking some cloves in warm water or the tea and gargle with that. Cloves have numbing properties. You could also try some Colloidal Silver (Health store) Spray some in your throat or gargle with it. It kills germs, viruses and bacteria. If it persists more a few more days you should consult your doctor because if you have a fever it could be a strep (bacteria infection) or mono.

I assume you know all the regulars that you hear of :
ice cream/popsicle/ sucking ice cubes/ gargling with salt water/
but there is a spray you buy over the counter just for sore throats and it worked better than anything else I ever tried. Give it a whirl - your pharmacy would know what its called.

Sore throat is usually due to a viral infection. Gargling with warm salty water or mouthwash can reduce the pain and inconvenience. You can find some good home remedies at http://ailments.in/sorethroat.html

If you are over 21. Take a swig of "Southern Comfort". But just a swig. It really works. It goes down smooth and soothes your throat. My great great grandmother used to take a shot only when this happened and she swore by it. It really works

Go to a doctor. Self treatment is not good and it is dangerous.
