I am always rather perplexed and disheartened by the amount of rage expressed toward questioners, people of different faiths, atheists, agnostics....Does anyone else get disheartened when they come on this board no matter your beliefs?

I am very grateful for your candor by the way.

Oh sure. I just read a question posted by some moron who's waiting for god to bring her a boyfriend.

It's just sickening is what it is.

But when I start feeling like that, I step away or go to another room.

With all its faults, I wouldn't change this room for anything. It's quite unique among the many categories. And it'll be interesting to see who wins.

Not at all. We're all typing, not shooting. We all benefit when everyone contends passionately for their beliefs. I admire the willingness of every person here to put themselves out there even if I think they're ridiculous and moronic. The fact that we're all here doing this means we have a lot of things in common that underlie our divergent takes on reality and the supernatural. I genuinely accept that people come here to push their beliefs because they think others will benefit because of it. I expect that others will push back hard. In fact more than anything, I find uncritical acceptance of any viewpoint to be anathema, so I think what goes on here from all directions, even ifit gets vitriolic, is a good thing, and I want to like those who come here to contend even if I think they're fools, hate mongers, mental defectives or whatever.

Some peoples blatant attempts at asking questions designed to ridicule others beliefs do test the limits of patience. But, as Provers says, "A soft answer turnith away wrath. YBIC

Me too...I started off trying to be nice and ask nice questions. I am a Christian and there are almost no Christian questions on here at all. Once I saw what the atheists said and did, as if it were all a big game, I stopped trying. But, I do keep reading...not to know about them, but to understand how I should react if I am faced with one of them someday.

It upsets me that even on the internet, even if we can not see eachother, we are still divided by our beliefs and hated against. It's wrong to descriminate against people because of race, but apparently in Y!A R&S it's okay to hurt someone because of what they believe.

Easier to hate then to love. Hate comes naturally. Love you have to work at.
