My husband and I are going to visit our families this weekend and im going to make ziti for my dad, but he is away and wont get to eat it until tues. night (next week). I have 2 options...1. boil the noodles and add the sauce and cheese to them and leave them just like that, and then he can just put it in the oven to bake it a little (melt the cheese and stuff) or 2. Boil the noodles add the sauce and cheese and bake them in the oven and then he can just heat it up....what would be better to do, i want it to last until tues. so its still good to eat, would it be better to not bake it, or bake it?? Thanks!!

BAKE IT, then FREEZE IT ... that's the only way you can be 'sure' that it will be 'safe' and tasty when your dad eats it next Tuesday. And you are a good daughter to think of your dad in this way ... especially since he won't be there when you are there for your visit. He'll get 'the best treat' that you've made just for him ... so he won't feel 'left out' at all.

you should make it as close to tuesday as you can because it wont last long and you could freeze it but i dont think it will be as good if you do, if you could make it monday the day before he eats it would suggest that you could put it togther except for the cheese (because the cheese could get stale) then refigerate it then on tuesday add the cheese and bake it. then it will be hot and delicious. if this is not possible bake it then freeze it

I think you bake it and keep it ready for him to just heat and eat. Is so much easier.
And is OK about the timing too.
Dad's are not that great about doing it for themselves. He may just not bake it.

So thoughtful of you. You seem a good daughter.

Bake it. Past experience has taught me that it doesn't spoil as fast after it is baked. Plus, if it doesn't look like we'll get to eat it all after it's baked, I just divide it into serving size portions and freeze it in those GLAD containers. You can grab one and take it to work, let it sit out until lunchtime, and it should be defrosted enough to heat in the microwave.

Don't bake it until its ready to be consumed. Make sure you freeze it if not, he is going to get sick...if it is just put in the fridge til next tuesday it will not be good that long. But just dont bake it, if you bake it now, then he is going to re bake it and it wont taste as good.

I would bake it, I don't think I'd want those ingredients sitting there till he cooks it

and I'm sure when he comes home he's going to want something that he isn't going to have to cook for a long time to eat.
Not sure of what his cooking abilities are.

Bake it and freeze it. Put reheating directions on a note card or post card and attach. He will love it!
