Ok, your looking into becoming a
Mass Communications Specialist (MC)
The Navy just recently merged the following ratings: Journalist (JO), Photographer's Mate (PH), Draftsman (DM), and Lithographer's (LI).
the training for the different positions are as follows :
Journalist (JO), 158 days at Fort Meade MD
Photographer's Mate (PH), 95 days at Fort Meade MD
Lithographer's (LI)., 87 days at Fort Belvoir, VA

If you are asking if you can join the Navy and get an education in the arts and or photography I don't know. Photography would make sense ...surveillance. Why don't you contact them directly. I am assuming you are an American. Although people from other countries are able to join the US forces.

Ph is the term your looking for. Photographers Mate? That is a very hard to get profession in the Navy. There are not many billets for that rating. It's also very hard to go up in rank with that rate.

about 3 months. photography is cool as long as promotion isn't what you're concentrating on. as stated above, it's hard to get a spot in the first place. slots for this rate is very limited and it's much harder to get promoted than other rates.

most a schools are a few months ... then there may be specialty schools after that depending on where u get assigned next ... school could go on for a year or more in several different places ...

MC is pretty much closed to new enlistees right now while they deal with the mega merge.
