They will find out you have a warrant out for your arrest when you apply for an ID. The reason is this is a legal identification, and the background check is run.

That varies state by state, I remember a while back, post 9-11 there were discussions about nationalizing identifications and what not and if memory serves me correctly, some states - New Hampshire comes to mind, do not. But I know for a fact that New Jersey does when you turn in license plates

Yes, they will. If you think you "might have a warrant in another state", you probably do. Call and see if you can get it straightened out before turning yourself in at the DMV.

no they don't when i moved to NY i had a warrant for my arrest in CA i applied for a new ID and nothing ever happened, even when i came back to CA i had to apply for a new ID it was issued to me no problem, only when i was pulled over i got arrested.

Since state ID's are issued by the DMV, which is a part of the state dept. of public safety, you can bank on it.
