would you actively oppose such a monster, knowing that it would result in being tortured by it forever, or would you acquiesce and provide the worship that it demands?

Interesting that posts are saying god will overpower me. If such a creature existed, that would certainly be true....but so might any criminal in the process of stealing my wallet.

Wow, this is a very good question, SJ.
At one time, I WAS a believer and I did acquiese to the demands.. when I finally woke up from that nightmare, I could not go back. Even if someone could prove to me that Jesus ever existed, I just couldn't do it. Any god who would throw those tantrums, and make those demands would have to be opposed.
I'm with SG-1 ;)

Great question. I'd like to think that I'd oppose such a petty, vengeful and murderous entity. God behaves like a megalomaniacal dictator from a small South American country, and there's no reason to believe that he will actually keep his word regarding the rewards of worshipping him.

There are a few accounts in the Bible of God going back on his word because his lust for murder was not satisfied. For example, God had promised the Israelites that he would drive all others they encountered out of their lands. But when the Israelites did not slaughter every last Canaanite, God became angry and changed his mind.

God made you and I and the earth so he can do what he wants.
His promise is for you to live forever if you believe in him love him and follow him. Wouldn't you want that ? I do. So why fight him you will lose anyway. By the way Cool Dad just above me also has the right answer. God has never said he would torture anyone. Where did you get that from ? It's not in the Bible.

God is plenty of real. hes real. if tho you cant see him hes everywhere. hes the air,the trees, the stars the moon, the outer space the water, everything and everywhere.dude God can overpower you anytime at all. . dont you ever show disrespect towards him ever again. you got it. hes nice and excellent and wonderful and caring God and all he ask if for respect and belief. its a shame how people treat him. well i will never say anything or do anything to upset him and no one I repeat NO ONE can never come between me and God.

There are many common misconceptions outlined in your question...

First, God is who He is, not matter whether evangelical Christians describe Him right or wrong. And I think we get Him wrong more often than we ant to admit.

Second, God never says He will torture anybody. He offers people what they ask for... a world without Him.

Third, People who love God give Him what he deserves (maybe much less than that in most cases), not what He wants. God's "demands" are simple... LOVE.

It doesn't seem to me like He is asking too much!

I love you and I pray that you continue on your search for Him in earnest! Be blessed!

I would fight. I would stand up against the immorality of such a god. He could fry me, I don't care. But someone has to let him know what he's doing isn't okay.

I'd try to engage Him in rational debate. If he gets pissed off and sends me to Hell, then I guess I'd just scream in agony and wretchedness as my soul is cushed in darkness and fire. But if that happens then God isn't much of a God.

Yes, I would fight against him, I'd be the only honorable thing to do. I will never give up, never surrender to his will, and NEVER bow down.

And if anyone wants to make monetary bets that I will, go right ahead. You will loose and I would love to have a Dodge Viper. ;-)

I will bet you all the money in the world that you would fall to your knees and bow down before Him and beg for His mercy.
