I need to know about vicodens 5 mil hydrocodone or 10 mil. I would like to know about both medecal and recration experinces, i.e medecal as in people who take them for pain and do not abuse them, and by recreation i mean people taking them to get high. Is the asprin in vicodens worse for you than the hydrocodone? Also just any information about this commen pain killer would be nice. Thank you for all the time you have spent answering my Q and have a good day.

I have used Vicoden in the past for bad back and migraines. I find that it works only moderately well. Many times I just take some aspirin and just deal with the pain.

I was addicted to vicodin for about one year of my life.

YES, the acetaminphen (tylenol) is the most harmful component of vicodin. If anything will kill you from vicodin, it is the tylenol. It is said that you should not take more than 4g (4000mg) of tylenol in a 24 hour period. Most vicodin contains 5 mg of hydrocodone (a component of codeine only with a hydrogen atom attached) and 500 mg of tylenol. So, you can take 8 pills within a 24 hour period and be safe; however, doing so for an extended period of time will SEVERELY damage your liver.

As far as vicodin's benefit in pain management, I personally feel that no one should use it for an extended period of time due to its addictive nature, adverse affects on the liver, dependence, and tolerance. Every patient is different, however. Some may need to use it for an extended period of time. Rule of thumb: if the benefits outweigh the risks, then yes, by all means it can be used. If you are considering taking vicodin as a pain killer, talk to your doctor about the risk of becoming addicted to it, especially if you have a history of substance abuse. If you are using it recreationally, I can only advise you to try and quit. I ended up in the hospital because I took too much. I thought that I was going to die. I had to drink this disgusting stuff to neutralize the acetaminophen in my liver and I'll tell you one thing, it made my poop smell SOOOOO bad for a couple of days. I mean, it smelt like pure chemicals. God, I am so thankful that I was able to quit that horrible drug!

This question may be debatable. 6 years ago I was on pain management for over three years so I do know pain killers do react differently in treating pain and for gertting high. Vicodin make some sick and other sleepy and others buzzed. Everyones different.

Well, first of all, Vicodin has no aspirin in it. It consists of Acetaminophen and hydrocodone (which is codine). as adverse reactions, it can cause, in personal experience, itching, nausea and severe headaches. I have included a link to help give you more information on the drug. I hope this helps answer your question.

I have been given scripts for pain and it works o.k. I usually never finish the script so then we party with it. Back in the seventies I did a lot stronger drugs so Vicodin is no big deal.
