Welfare is so fun! Fry cooks and uneducated kids can move out whenever they want to and still have an early marriage. Burger King/Wal-Mart hires anyone. Welfare cares for millions of young jobless men and women with children. And those nice welfare apartments! I'm glad your parents are on the new trend:finish what they started.Give a GOOD life a chance.
Once upon a time boys were shooed out when HS was over, now it takes many more years to graduate just with a Bachelors degree. Since a job with a BS. is low paying and barely supports..a bachelor, higher education takes a masters degree. And that should support an empoyed spouse and a child.
Much less was expected of girls except that they marry said college boy, nice and young, at like 20 or 25.Have kids, get divorced a few times....
Your parents are nice, and no doubt like having offering you a home, safety, and love while you aspire to a better life. That's why people want kids is it not? to give them a better life? In this millennium it takes longer,so caring parents give more.
Fry cook: wages, 20k
Bachelors degree job: 35-40K
Doctorate grad: wages 90k and up past the 300K's
Wedding:5k minimum
Divorce: 5k minimum
Child support:Until age 25 in most states now if the child is in college.
College degree: bachelors: 4 years min,80-100K student grant.
College degree,Masters:8 year min,200K
Nice parents: priceless! OK had to add that
So unless your heir to millions, give mom and dad a hug and help cook Sunday dinner..With a busy schedule its about the only time you'll see each other when living at home:)

I would say until 24 is probably too old. I would want my own place at least before I get married.. Do you know how bad that would look if you were married and were still living with your parents..yuuuuuuuch..
I moved out at 20, but that was by the time I was married.

Your parents don't know how to let go if they say 100; they'd probably wish for you to live with them the rest of their lives. If you don't go to college you should be out by 20, in college you should be out one year after you graduate, like 23-25. One to two years is plenty of time to get a job, save money, and move out. Many kids are staying with their parents longer b/c it's easy for them and they are too lazy to work hard and make it on their own. It's basically a form of parental welfare and I see it all the time with my friends after they graduated college. And parents are doing their kids no good by allowing them to live with them forever b/c it doesnt teach them responsibility or how to make it on your own. Living at home to save money or get back on your feet is one thing, but living at home just b/c it's convenient and easy is pathetic.

Your parents are very kind to say so. I think once you graduate college (if not before) and you have a full-time job, it's time to stop being a financial burden (unless you're paying part of bills and rent) to find your own residence. That's just my opinion. I love my parents but actually my relationship with them has been better since I got married (at 20) and moved out. Not that it was bad before, I just appreciate so much more of them now.

I assume you're excluding the case of adult children who are live-in caregivers for their elderly and infirm parents.
You are too old to be living with mom and dad when you are capable of supporting yourself and you cannot live with mutual respect and cordiality under one roof. That could be any age over 16.

It depends. If you have a disability, you may feel more comfortable living with your parents, and if your parents have a disability, they might feel more comfortable having you there. It's also acceptable if you are actually working and are living in the same town. But if none of these reasons apply, you should probably move out.

How sweet ... your parents just want you to stay as long as you want ... I say move out when you feel you can take care of your self, emotionally, financially and still be able to enjoy life ... I moved out when I was 17 - but I also joined the Military so big difference ... move out when you feel you're ready ... I say anybody staying at home past 25 is mooching big time ... lol ... !

The answer is 30. Under no circumstances should a person still live with their parents at this age. The general rule: someone over 30 should not live with anyone they're NOT sleeping with.
