haha full of details, well, we are honest christians, it does bother me that they come here without explenation, i think it would bother anyone that is innocent of whatever to just have two policemen investigating your brother. we bought this van a while ago but i dont know much more than that. hmm.... thanks all! ill vote in a couple of hours.

Not only can they, but often they cannot tell you the reason, since it involves a matter under investigation. They would violate a possible suspect's right to privscy. especially if the suspect was ruled out later.

Yes, they can come over to your house. If you have nothing to hide what are you concerned about?
It is called questioning a suspect.
If they have reason to suspect someone, and they approach that person they do not have to give a reason as to why.
But, you can refuse to answer. Aha, there lies the law on your side.
You are confusing this issue with search and seizure without a warrant. That, they cannot do, suspicion or no suspicion. A warrant must be there then you have to get out of their way. They can do what they are supposed to do, i.e., to search, seize and they can even seal the place.

Well they must not have known you were Christians because we all know that Christians never lie. What a knuckle head thing to say. If you are innocent why not answer some questions so that they do not suspect your anymore. Also I can see that you are very lame when it comes to your brother's guilt or innocence and that is who they really are looking at, isn't it. I don't fear the police and have answered questions from them at different times in my life. And they didn't even know what my religion was.

they're assume to knock and announce earlier getting into, until eventually they have likely reason to trust that their is a probability to themselves or some different person in the back of that door, or in the journey that they have got likely reason that you'll spoil out. in case you've been asleep interior the bedroom, they'd have knocked and presented and also you probably did not listen them. notwithstanding, in the journey that they have got a search for warrant or an arrest warrant, they're assume to grant you a replica of it on the time of their get entry to. you could report a grievance adverse to them for that with the precinct. For an arrest warrant, they're constrained to creating the arrest of the detainee, for a search for warrant, they're in effortless words allowed to seek the parts particular on the warrant. it really is disappointing to hearken to that they were forceful, yet you even ought to imagine of this subject from their attitude. They deal with truly some nut jobs, all day, each day. they do no longer comprehend you or your boyfriend from a hollow interior the wall. they ought to pass into the topic prepared and knowledgeable that one among you, or both one among you, would attempt to attack them or harm them circuitously. by making positive that you're below administration, they could make sure the entire subject is below administration. Your constitutional rights were no longer violated.

Of course they can. Police have not only a right but a responsibility to investigate crimes. No permission is needed to ask people questions.

Yes, they can ask questions and they don't owe you an explanation....
You have the right to refuse to answer questions....then they have the right to serve you with a subpeona to appear in court where you will be questioned and have to answer.
So, why would you NOT want to talk to them in the first place - if you have nothing to hide?

Yes it's called investigating. You don't have to let them in, but they will just get a warrant and the fun begins. So I would talk to them unless you have something to hide.

Everyone seems to be saying they don't have to tell you but if it's bothering you that much, call the police dept. and ask to speak to the watch commander. He/she is the person in charge of the officers on duty.

Yes they can. The police may come to your front door and knock, but they cannot enter your premises without your permission or a warrant.
