The 79 Mustang was the beginning of the new platform to replace the Mustang II Pinto based car. This was based on the Granada platform and offered the 302 V8 as an option. Since this car remained in production to 1994 most of the mechanical parts are easily obtained and the body parts are reasonably available.

I would only get the model equipped with the 2.8 Liter V6 or the 302 V8, stay away from the Turbo 4 (those are one of the most unreliable motors ever made), the base 4 was gutless and the 200ci 6 was fairly gutless but a good reliable motor.

First year of the Ford Foxbody, Very popular model, made until 94. It could be had with the 5.0 V8, v6 or turbo 4, Paced the Indy 500!
