From what I can tell, he is a different strain of American Shorthair/Tabby mix.
According to Mrs. J. K. Rowling, though, Crookshanks (in the books) wasn't a cat at all but a mix between a mixed breed of cat and a keazle ( Kneazle is a magical cat-like creature closely enough related to cats to interbreed with them. A kneazle has large ears, spotted fur and a lion-like tail).

Hi there, Crookshanks in the film version is a red Persian cat ... here's his photo:

Now compare it to the photo of GR. CH Mystere Jaspercarat about the 5th photo down on this page:

I must say that, personally, I find Jasper to be a little prettier than Crookshanks, lol.

Crookshanks is described as having ginger fur, a bottle-brush tail and squat, bandy legs. He was also described as having a "smashed face," which was inspired by a real cat J.K. Rowling once saw that she said looked like it had run face first into a brick wall (probably a Persian).

He's described as being orange and fluffy with a squashed-looking face, which sounds like some kind of red tabby domestic longhair (orange stripes & fluffy)+persian (squashed face) mix.
