No, it's not true. None of the cartoonists have died - there were 12 cartoonists, one for each drawing. So it has not been kept from the public, it just never happened. There was a similar rumor a couple of months or so ago, and the rumors made the media (at least in Denmark), and were also refuted in the media.

Since we believe that whoever mocks our Prophet (pbuh) will not escape punishment, it does not matter how he died. Even if its of natural causes, he will not escape God's fire, which is worse than any fire humans know of. Do not worry dear, let the world have a good laugh, we love our Prophet, he does not need them.

I thought he was killed, drive by shooting or something. But I'm not sure... The media tries to suppress information that could be seen as inflammatory so that we remain relatively apathetic about the important social issues of our day. Sometimes if you want the truth you have to do your own research!
