lol just to add more details about my dog shes is a female. her name is maxie. and being so old she has to be on lots of medications and has add many sugeries. we have spent about 1500$-2500$ on her in last year just to keep her so good. because the vet confirmed she is 24 she is also goign to be in the front page of the newspaper!!! yea!!! she might be old but we still love her and she still also loves to jump, run, and play so we hope she can go on living another 5 or more years!!! ( be jelious!! )

more detail - but as much money and love we put into this dog the vet says she also isn't goign to live much longer. every year about summer she looses all her hair and gets in pain and every year it gets worse. it is goign to be to expensive this year for us to make her better again in such a bad condition so if she gets really sick again this year we will have to relieve her of her pain and put her down. ( whimper.....* .. whimper..)

OMG! A 24 year old dog! Thats like 109 in human years! Whats your secret? What are you feeding him? You must have kept on every little vaccine or sickness they got huh? You got past the Golden Retriever's "likely to develop cancer mark" at 10 years. Has your dog had any surgeries like this or others? On the net I found this: The oldest known Golden Retriever was almost 20 years old when he died. With the better food and better veterinary care – Goldens are routinely living to 12 to 14 years of age and many well beyond that.

Right now I have a year and a half and a six month old Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Their life spans are only about 10-12 years, but like you, I am hoping to get well beyond that. :)

My husband used to have a dog before we got married that lived to be 18 years old. It was a mutt. Take good care of your buddy there, my husband's dog was so old it lost all it's teeth. That dog was goin' real strong till the day it died. My mother-in-law let the dog outside and it got hit by a car. You know...your dog is 171 dog years old. The dog's first year is considered to be equel to 10 human years and every year after that is considered to be equel to 7 human years. WOW!

WOW that is great, if your dog in good shape? The oldest I have ever had a dog live was my poodle that died last September when she was 16.

And I thought my mom's dog was ancient when he died at 18!! He was a large terrier-type mutt named Tuffy.

Just to let you know, the longest-lived dog was 29, so if your dog lives a bit longer, you might want to contact Guiness...;)

Blessings

EDIT...there different ages listed in different sources, ranging from 27 to 29, so you might want to contact them to be sure!!

=O 24??!! wow, that's a long time. You said that your dog is in pain, is she is alot of pain? if she is, I'm thinking you should put her down. I know it must be sad to do that but, it must be better for her if she's in alot of pain. Don't get mad at me, I'm just saying.

That's incredible. Now my questions to you would be: What do you feed your dog? Any special daily supplements?
Does your dog have a regular routine and if so, what is it like? Thanks in advance for anything you might be able to add to your question to answer this by editing your question.
