the real question is, can i still receive grants although iam currently on academic suspension? it was 4 years ago and i was fresh out of high school-went to a small community college and didn't take it seriously and now i regret it. i need to know some other way of paying for my education as i cannot afford to pay out of pocket right now.

The suspension is only for that particular school, you can go elsewhere and get financial aid thru the government if you want too.

And you're academic suspension is probably lifted, unless you cheated or something and they kicked you out.

You need to talk to a counselor of the school you want to attend. Another alternative is to do some independent study and test out of the classes you failed. College Level Examination Program (CLEP)test are inexpensive compared to tuition and books and there are general study guides available at most books stores or at Amazon. If you test out you will get credit for the course. The test cover most of the basics and I have know people who placed out of the entire Freshman year.

Depending on where you are going to school now, sometimes you can write a letter on your behalf and explain. Otherwise, you'll have to take out student loans.

Academic probation means that you will lose your aid if you screw up again. Did you screw up two semesters or just one? I was on academic probation then I just decided to not get D's or F's - that's basically all it takes.
