It depends.

I had my tonsils out when I was 19 and I was in EXTREME pain. It was the most painful thing I have ever went through. It took me personally about a month and half before the pain was completely gone and I could eat and drink normal again. The first day or two I was completely fine, I was thinking "that's it?" But by the third day I was in so much pain! I went through two bottles of Tylenol w/ Codeine. I would wake up several times throughout the night. It was horrible!

It's easy for kids when they get them out at a young age. My doctor said it can take them a few days to heal and they are fine, but, if you get them out when you are an adult it is VERY painful and can take weeks to heal.

Just hang in there! And if your pain medication doesn't seem to be working don't be afraid to ask the doctor for something stronger. Most doctors are fine writing for a stronger med if they know you are in a lot of pain.

Best decision I've ever made! I was shocked by the way of getting out the stones out. It was so easy, but more importantly, painless. I really liked the little trick he had for preventing gag reflex. He have one happy customer here.

I had mine out when I was 20 and was in horrible pain for almost a month. The reason why is because I was having problems with getting blood clots in my throat. You may want to go back and have it checked. Not mention get some stronger meds!

Get some soft ice cream to eat. Popsicles, and ice chips to suck on. This will help, and it keeps inflammation down and speeds the healing. The pain should be subsiding in a few days.

It seems to me most of the pain should have subsided by now. The first 2 days are the worse, but it should be manageable by now. If now, I'd call the doctor.

It should lessen every day & be gone in about a week . Try eating cold things like sherbet, icecream & jello.
