You should choose a religion based on what you already know to be true.

If you don't like the monotheists, and you think re-incarnation's nonsense then why do you need a religion?
If you're definitely in the market though, I'd recommend the Discordians, it's a religion with punchlines.

You might find the Belief-O-Matic quiz helpful:

Alternatively, do a bit of looking around on either of these sites:

http://www.religioustolerance.org
http://www.religionfacts.com

I can't tell you which religion to choose -- that's a decision only you can make. The "right" religion, in my opinion, is the one that resonates for you, connects you with the Divine most effectively, and helps you be the best person you can be.

Hope this helps. :-)

It would help if we knew your purpose in choosing a religion. If you don't believe in religions simply because you "don't like them" then why are you tying yourself down to a specific religion? Wouldn't it be easier to simply say you don't believe?
If you are believing in something just to believe in something you are sort of defeating the purpose of believing in a higher power.

However, I encourage you, take another look at Christianity. It is definitely worthwhile. If you have any questions about Christianity and their beliefs, feel free to contact me, and I'll happily help you.

It might be helpful to figure out what you DO believe and maybe finding a religion will be easier if you know what you believe. After you know what you believe, then you can figure out what you want to classify yourself as.

Zoroastrianism would be your best non-semitic-origined monotheist option if you are insurmountably prejudiced against "Jesus, the Way, the Truth and the Life". Its a lot better than worshipping a gilded lump of wood or ancestors. Can't promise you you'd make heaven, though. Confucian and Buddhist philosophy might inspire you - some of it seems quite wise and insightful, they mostly disdain violence, but again, no surety about heaven imo.

Why do you need a religion* to believe in god? If you believe in god, then believe in god without all the rituals/fundamentalism that comes with it.

*the term 'religion' includes christianity. Christianity is a religion NOT a relationship. It is worshipping a deity.

Deism is a belief that there was a creator god of some kind but now plays no part in it. Is that anywhere near your beliefs?

You don't need a religion to 'believe'. Take a look at what mess the world is in today which is down to religion.
Do something positive, and make a difference to this cruel world we live in.

Roman Catholics may well be devout, Protestants staunch, Methodists strict, Atheists confirmed and Agnostics unconvinced, but only Buddhists are enlightened!

The only TRUE religion....worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster (Sauce be upon him).

Beer volcanoes and stripper factories, what more do you want from an allpowerful being?

NO RELIGION... all are empty. Start a spiritual journey and find what you are looking for without religion...

read some of this enlighten, awesome guy

get these books (read chopra 1st):

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_b/002-1467482-5912023?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=seven+laws+chopra&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go

These are simple, easy, accessible and mandatory... if you dive into a RELIGIOUS community you will get confused, sidetrack and will get stuck on all the religous distraction which is complicated and usually leads you away from what you came for.

You will be very grateful if you take my suggestion and the books are cheap on amazon $5-$6 used!
