Depends on what the paint is being applied to and how. If it's regular drywall your first coat per gallon will give approximately 200 sq. feet and the second will be about 350 with a low nap roller, depending on the quality of the paint. With a higher thickness roller on a textured surface more paint will be required to cover the area.

On wood it depends. What type? Poplar paints about the best (harder) and I would say cedar soaks up the most (softer.) Poplar = close to the same as drywall, cedar = 1 1/2 times drywall.

LOL. Did you mean for someone to do it for you or for you to do it yourself? I'm guessing you meant DIY. A gallon of paint varies in price depending on the brand (and where you're from.)

Most professional painters charge by the hour. If you get one that charges per square footage, expect them to tack on extra charges if they have to do extras or extra coats... I NEVER use a painter that charges by square footage.
