Many attempts have been made to speculate, yet we cannot know for certain. If he is alive and on the earth now, it is not possible for us to know for sure at this time. Knowing who he is, is not as important as our ongoing supreme love for Christ Jesus. The more we are in love with our Savior, and the more we love His Word, the less likely it will be we would ever be led astray by the future coming Antichrist.

Very funny, except: I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.' The whole idea of the question is so that people who have something "bad" in their baggage get paranoid and think "If I say no and he finds something I'll get in trouble so I'll answer yes/maybe." By noticing the logical flaw or stating no to the question the person did not go through this thought process and therefore suspicion is lifted off their shoulders. It's actually an intelligent trick.

"Antichrist" means "against (or instead of) Christ."
The word "antichrist" apples to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organizations, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the role of Messiah by presumptuously promising to achieve that which only Christ can do - bring about peace and security.
What the bible says about the Antichrist:
"Young children, it is the last hour, and, just as you have heard the antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists." 1 John 2: 18
"Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is Christ? This is the antichrist, the one that denies that Father and the Son." 1 John 2:22
"Every inspired expression that does not confess Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist's inspired expression which you have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world." 1 John 4:3
"Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, person not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. 2 John 7

Everyone would love to know! However, we all may only speculate on the situation. Most likely it will be a prominent and well-liked leader from Russia, Turkey, Israel, or any area North of the holy land.
Who knows though, people may already be blindly following him now and we would really have no idea until he tries to declare that he is god (or the return of Christ) and then attacks Israel.

This is going to sound off-the-wall but there've been times when I've thought that the Antichrist is more of an influence rather than an actual person. For example, the Internet....although there is a lot of good information on it there is also a lot of bad...it's broken up marriages, it's ruined people's social lives, it's an avenue for pedophiles, prostitution, drug dealers, pornography, etc. And yet everyone loves it.

If one chooses to accept the definition of 'anti-christ' from the very book that introduced the term, we learn the 'anti-christ' is not ONE person.
1 John 2:18 " . . .even now there have come to be many antichrists. . ."
What defines an anti-christ?
"....the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ. This is the antichrist." 1 John 2:22.
It could be YOU if you deny that Christ was the promised Messiah and mankind's ransomer.

Even you could be the antichrist. I mean, you pretend to be a civillian asking about who the antichrist can be, indirectly declaring that you yourself are not it, and that is what you want people to think, just like the antichrist.
