Hi

I have recently bought an Ipod Nano, the new version. I have trouble downloading the songs for free onto the Ipod. Itunes asks me to update the Ipod and it erases all my previously loaded music. I have tried Limewire and it doesn't seem compatiable with Ipods. I use Internet cafes so I can't store the songs. Help!

Limewire is fine you just have to transfer the songs via iTunes as Limewire isnt a iPod program so just transfer the mp3's across.
Although you should have chosen a Archos MP4 player as there so cheap and good they had 20GB storage when the biggest iPod was 1GB lol
And its just drag n drop for other mp3/mp4 devices where as apple have to make if difficult and make you use a program.

Have you installed the new update onto your ipod? This update is called 1.1.2 to check this go on to your ipod settings (using your ipod) click about scroll down till it says version. There is the new version 1.1.2 from the 1.1.1. If not I would send it back to the place you've got it from. If its from Argos you can just say its brocken and they will give you a new one.
To get the update just plug you Ipod in and let it do it it will pop up with a window of whther you want to install it. Its feel quick to do. Any more problems contact apple.
Or you could try unistalling Itunes and then re installing it.

good luck

I actually have used most of them. But I have decided to start paying for the music at a cheaper price.

gomusic.ru songs are 15 cent and cd's are like 2 dollars. I hope it's safer to use. I am paying a price for the music. Try it.

They download with ease onto my ipod. No problem at all.

The safest way is to go to individual websites where they give away music for free. A lot of underground artist do this. Anytime you deal with websites with a lot of traffic you open yourself up to viruses, spyware, adware, etc. Here is a hip-hop/rap artist BrookDon's website with free downloads to get you started. Be careful with downloading illegally from your phone...they can get your phone number...and then your address...etc.

This answered part of your question, if you use a program called DVDFab platinum this program will copy & convert your cd/dvd for ipod.

It won't work with downloaded files/program but will work with any cd/dvd you have.
