I'm thinking of buying a refurbished Philips 42" Plasma TV from Philips outlet. The tv only comes with a 90 day warranty, should I spend extra money buying an extended warranty that may cost between $150 and $300 depending on the length of the warranty period, is it really worth it?

If the phillips is an HDTV 720p (not ED 480) and the price of the tv plus the extended warranty is still much cheaper than buying a new one then yes.

it's probably better to not make this purchase..to risky. It really says something if the manufactuerer is only giving you 90 days on the tv. Better to buy new there are many name brands out there better than phillips..Less expensive...plasmas are designed to last more than 10 years...Also make sure it is not an enhanced definition this only gives you around 5-700 colors...Where as a full definition gives you about 1.9 colors!....Also pixels cannot be repaired because plasma is a gas sealed between two panels of glass...

All phillips TVs are junk. Most repair shops dont take in phillips crap due to high failure rates.

I wouldnot recomend buying any walmart TV because they are not designed to last.

Sony,Toshiba,Mitsubishi,Pioneer,Hitachi make great TVs and prolly blow the phillips out of the water piture wize.

The Toshiba Plasma 42'' are really good tvs and are made to last.
