If me and this one police officer don't exactly like each other (dated back to our high school days).. and i suspect he's been with my girl, and i send him a text message saying, "you better not be messing with me boy" and he replies, "you better be joking because if your not we might have a problem!" now, could i get in trouble for that? he stated he was on duty.
what exactly can i say or do to a police officer if i have problems with him?

Ask your girlfriend. If she denies it and you believe her, then move on and ignore this cop. Do NOT threaten him or send anything that can even REMOTELY be perceived as a threat. There are ways to make a point/inquiry/accusation without a threat. Also, if he threatens you or indicates in any way that he will use his authority to create problems for you, keep those emails as evidence of abuse of authority. By the way, if your girlfriend is with this guy behind your back, dump the *****--she's not worth the possible hassle and can of worms that you are opening.

Threatening a police officer can land you in one big bowl of hot soup. Especially when he is on duty.
It can be used against you in a court of law.
Sending messages is equivalent to putting things in writing. He can argue that you threatened his life - you have to explain to the judge why you did it, under what circumstances etc.. It can get ugly.
The girl ain't worth it, bud. There is plenty of fish out there. Just forget about it and move on. Tell the girl what you think of her and take a parting shot. But don't threaten her either.

document EVERYTHING save text messags you sent as well as the replies you could try to bait him into threating you when he replied like that you should have sent one back saying is that a threat? get a lawyer and witnesses to everything you can think of
you can call his LT. and tell him whats going on and embrass him a bit and just cuase him some grief he cant do anything to you if your not breaking the law also say emails and even the responses to this question i mean everything incase if he tries some dodgy stuff if you have a documented history of a problem
with him it'll make it way easier to deal with in front of a judge
but personal if he's been with your woman i'd say screw em both
she's prbably not worth it in the first place

I don't know, sounds like you may be threatening him. If you think you have had problems to this point, wait, they can get worse. Leave it alone. Police officer will find a way to make your life really difficult, especially if you two have a history and he wants to make out you threatened him. That would be a costly mistake.

Here's a thought -- why not ask the girl involved. If it turns out the girl is shaggin the cop - walk away. If not and you believe her then just forget about him.
You don't have the right to threaten anyone at any time for any reason. Your problem isn't with the cop - it's with the woman you think is being unfaithful. She is the one who owes you respect and honesty - not him.

your text may be perceived as a threat - threatening a police officer - or anyone else, for that matter, is a crime.
Just drop it. If you must confront him on this issue, bring a witness and do it while he is out of uniform.

You are implying retaliation... So if you aren't joking...or if he decided to be a dic about it...he could say that you are threatening him...
The charge would be "Terrorist Threats"....and he could take you to jail.
I had an ex boyfriend that that happened to...
Careful what you say...but be especially careful what you write...especially if it can be traced back to you and admitted as evidence in court...
Long story short...don't send him anymore text messages...(you're giving him proof that you are harassing/threatening him)...if you have to harass him...call him from a public phone...not your cell phone....but honestly...you should just leave him alone.

Unfortunately, these days anything can be construed
as "threatening". Better watch yourself, that cop has ways of making trouble for you. Come on, that FL woman who was convicted of launching a "missile" into another car threw a cup of ice! Your words/actions can be twisted into ways you wouldn't even know were possible...and it would all be legal. Cops will stoop to using their authority to their advantage.

Confront the girl. See if she admits to cheating on you. If she does, then break up with her. Why continue to see someone that isn't faithful to you?
BTW, what makes you suspect they two are seeing each other on the side?
