Between that and the senseless attacks that occur from extremists and hatemongers of various ideologies this forum is frequently a total waste of time. I myself would love to be able to understand people who believe differently from myself but the combination of foolishness and combative behaviors make it nearly impossible most of the time. Am I the only one that would like to learn instead? I doubt it.

And, you have just described why the peoples of the world do not get along. This forum seems to be a good cross-section of what we see in the world, I think. Bigots, extremists, hatemongers, religious, agnostic, and atheist zealots, and there are people that never take anything serious. There are some that are here to learn, but for the most part people want confirmation of their beliefs to confirm their thinking. They come and post on here looking for someone to agree with them. I too would like to see more open minded answers. I try to answer question's using words like "perhaps", "consider", "think about". But then again, I know that I'm not finished learning, when we close our mind, we stop learning, and that's sad. I listen to all opinions, choose what parts of each fit my current view, or cause me to re-think a current view and amend my thinking process, which will continue until the day I die.

If it were not for what you consider stupid questions how would we know the difference between the good and the not so good. So why do you think you are the judge in what others might not think are stupid questions. We are all in different places in our lives. It seems the more I learn the more I realize how much more there is to learn. There are always going to those you described in your question, you can not change that, you can only try to understand they are that way for a reason. I wonder what has happened to someone to turn them into a hatemonger It would not make their behavior acceptable only understandable.

Actually, what you have here is that - like the mysterious puzzle box in the movie series "Hellraiser," Yahoo has opened its own "Pandora's Box" with Yahoo Answers.

They started something and (I assume) had no clue as to the problems it would attract. They are obviously incapable of adequately moderating the forum, just on the sheer volume of responses generated.

So, they rely on the participants to report each other - whether justified or not.

And there you have it.

It's a free, public forum and they don't have enough bouncers.

Becaus idiocy is one way to get a rise out of people and for most of these, this is the ONLY way for them to get the attention that they are missing in their real lives.

Besides, it is MUCH easier to hide behind postings on the internet than to stand in a crowd and speak your rants and idiotic ideas. Basically, the extremeists and hatemongers are too COWARDLY to make their feelings known to the outside world and choose this anonymous way instead.

Well Dave since this is an open forum every and anybody will come on here and say what ever they feel like it. There's not much you or anybody else can do about it except not to come to this particular section if you or I or anybody else for that matter doesn't like it. It is what it is Dave. Unfortunately people would rather misuse and abuse this forum.

There are just so many people out there who are bored and can't think of anything important to say so they make things up. Also, I think sometimes we perceive answers or questions as combative when in reality, they person just does not know how to type with a sentistive tone of voice, so to speak.

A+++++... Well said. I'm a contiued learner of the Word and teacher of the bible. I hope that others learn from what I explain to them, but I constantly come across those who misquote scripture to prove their foolish points.

Pitiful attacks that have no substance or depth. I use it as a tool to maintain my knowledge of the Word. They don't realize the wisdom and power they are running from. It's sad really.

Anyway, good point and God bless.

~You are definitely not alone.

Fear.
Many people are afraid to learn. Many people have a deep fear that asking an actual question and considering an actual answer might cause them to change something inside themselves. These are people who fear learning.
Be patient and kind. Show them that it can be good to learn. Help them get over their fear.
If not you, who?

I totally agree with you. When I started on Yahoo Answers, I couldn't stay off it. Everyone was pretty cool except for a few. Then all of a sudden it was so ridiculous that I stopped coming here. I check in every now and then to see what's going on.

Because some people would rather point fingers, or say my belief is right believe like I do, or find it easier to condemn.rather than trying to learn.

I want to learn too...And I'm learning that some questions are better just ignored.

Blessings
